We spent the August long-weekend in Ottawa, and Fitz spent most of time in the backyard playing around the pool.
Month: August 2015
July 2015: 22 months and a soccer star is born
ABOVE & BELOW: Fitz dropped into a pool party hosted by Matt’s friends Michelle and Stephen and got to taste his first freezie.
ABOVE: Aunt Heather took Fitz for a ride on the High Park train.
ABOVE & BELOW: Fitz has signed up with Little Kickers, a weekly soccer program which will eventually catapult him into one of Canada’s best players. His friend Leo from daycare is also signed up.
ABOVE: Carly has been taking Fitz to the giant Sunnyside pool on Saturday mornings. Joining them has been Emmett and Andria.
ABOVE & BELOW: Fitz seems to have a great time at daycare and has many friends. At the top of the list is Abigail. They are inseparable.
ABOVE & BELOW: On rainy days, the daycare takes the kids to the ramp outside the Spacing Store. There is a window looking into the store and it produces some outstanding moments of cuteness.
FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Zelda, Fitz, Leo, Callum
When one of the girls was getting her hair put it pigtails Fitz wanted it done too. So he got his wish.
ABOVE: Matt’s started drawing with Fitz on wax paper with crayons. Note that Bacon is actually Meghan, but that’s how he pronounces her name.
July 2015: A week away at Waseosa Lake in Hunstville
During the first week of July, the family took a vacation up into the Muskoka region at Waseosa Lake just outside of Hunstville. The cottage was perfect — rustic but comfortable. The lake was relatively quiet; there was a dock and small area to play in the water; and the weather was hot but not crazy summer hot.
ABOVE & BELOW: As you will see, a lot of photos of Fitz on this trip are of him eating meals. He was a hungry boy since he loved running around the dock, up and down the hill, and chasing Matt in circles throughout the cottage.
ABOVE & BELOW: Fitz was a reluctant swimmer during the week. But he spent a lot of time sitting on a log right on the shoreline splishing and splashing.
ABOVE & BELOW: Our lone excursion away from the cottage was to Ragged Falls about 25-minutes away and on the western edge of Algonquin Park. It dropped probably 75 metres and had quite a strong current. Fitz seemed to be a little scared of the noise an didn’t want to go to the edge of the rocks to look down.
ABOVE & BELOW: This little table was the focal point of a lot of play time as it allowed Fitz to multi-task: cars could zoom around AND he could keep an eye on boat passersby.
ABOVE & BELOW: Fitz really liked to yell out HELLO to any boaters passing by our cottage. Though, he often yelled it after they had long passed us and were looking the other way.
ABOVE & BELOW: More shoreline time and Fitz’s Coppertone commercial reenactment.
ABOVE: We also finished a puzzle. It was probably the only item on Carly’s to-do list for the week.
ABOVE: There was an island right across from our cottage called, get ready for it, Treasure Island. Carly swam across to it a few times during the week.
June 2015: Waterfront park fun and Father’s Day in High Park at 21 months
May 2015: 20 months and a mess
We swear he knows how to use a fork. But he also knows how to stuff his face.
ABOVE & BELOW: We took Fitz to a BBQ in the East End at Kath and Jamie’s place. They also have a kid, Max, the same age as Fitz. As babies they hung out together in coffee shops as Carly, Kath, and Buski caught up. Above, Fitz tastes his first marshmellow.
BELOW: Fitz with Kath and Max.
ABOVE & BELOW: As you can see, Fitz likes his wagon (and to drool/spill all over himself).
ABOVE: Oh, yeah. We own a car now. Fitzy seems to like it. A bit of an upgrade on the wagon.
And here’s Mikey outside on the porch.
May 2015: The list of words so far
Over the last few months Fitz’s vocabulary has expanded with ferocity. Throughout May, we made a list of all the words he was using.
